IPCA World Individual Chess Championship 2022 – 21th edition

Israel / Ashdod, May 2022

  1. Organizers: The Israeli Chess Federation, Sports Authority of Ashdod Municipality, Ashdod Municipal Chess Club, IPCA (International Physically Disabled Chess Association).

The championship will be held in Hotel “Leonardo”, Mediterranean Sea Ave. 1, Ashdod City, Israel from  May, 8st (arrival date) until May, 17th (departure date).

  1. Participation:

The physically disabled chess players – men, women and juniors (boys, girls) 2002 year of birth and younger (including users of wheelchairs) with the disability group in the player’s country but not less than 50% physical disability. All players must submit the appropriate medical certificate of disability for the IPCA Medical committee before the competition.

  1. Registration to the tournament and visas:

 Registration to the 21th IPCA World Individual Chess Championship 2022 on website: IPCA.chess.org.il until 15th April 2022

  • Participants of the championship are responsible for obtain of the visas to Israel if it is needed. For assistance with Visa arrangement please contact the Israeli Chess Federation by e-mail: [email protected] and provide your following information:
  • Surname and name(s) (as in passport), 2) Citizenship, 3) Date of birth, 4) Passport number , 5) Passport expiry date, 6) Function (player, accompanying person).

 Hotel and Meals:

– Accommodation in double rooms and catering in Hotel “Leonardo”, Mediterranean Sea Ave. 1, Ashdod City, Israel.

–  Full board from dinner on 8st May to breakfast on 17th May 2022.

  1. Transport: Ashdod is located 50 km from Tel Aviv. There is a train to Ashdod from Airport, which goes every hour. If it is necessary, the tournament organizer provides the paid transport for the participants from the Airport in Tel Aviv to the hotel in Ashdod and back.
  2. Payments:

Players – 650 EUR per player (payment includes accommodation in double room and full board).

Entry fee in the tournament – 50 EUR per player,

For accompanying persons of players in wheelchairs – 650 EUR per person (payment includes accommodation in double room and full board).

For other accompanying persons – 1.000 EUR per person (payment includes accommodation in double room and full board).  In special cases when the accompanying person is mandatory for a player, the organizers will approve a discount to 650 EUR

Additional payment for one extra day (in double room) – 130 EUR per night,

Transport of participants from airport to hotel and back – 100 EUR per person.

Alternatively, there are several transfer options by public transportation (train, buses, shared taxis), the cost will depend on the time of arrival, starting from ~20 EUR per person

Upgraded rooms: EXECUTIVE room (high floor) – 28 EUR per night,

CLUB room (with a balcony) – 39 EUR per night,

JUNIOR Suite  – 88 EUR per night.

 

The participation costs should be paid to the bank account of the organizer

not later than 4th April 2022.

2nd place – 800 EUR

Women special prizes:

1st place – 500 EUR

Cups, medals and diplomas in followings categories: the general classification, women, men and women in wheelchairs and boy-juniors and girl-juniors.

Winner among men, women and players in wheelchairs obtain the right of participation in IPCA team at the FIDE World Chess Olympiad 2022.

 

  1. Tie-Break System:

In case of equal number of points will be used the following tie-breaks:

1) Median Buchholz, 2) Buchholz, 3) Direct result.

 

  1. System & Rate of play:

Swiss system in 9 rounds according to FIDE rules of Chess. Time control: 90 minutes plus 30 seconds move. Pairing by program SwissManager.

  • The 21th IPCA World Individual Chess Championship 2022 will be played according to the FIDE rules in force since 01.01.2018.
  • The player who arrives at the round with a delay of more than 30 minutes after the start of the round, loses the game.
  • The decisions of the chief arbiter during the competition are final.
  • An appeal should be filed not later than 2 hours after the end of the round.
  • In all matters not included in that communication decides the organizer of tournament.
  • For the capacity of the player to participation in the tournament, as well as for his insurance are responsible delegating organizations.
  • The representatives of the IPCA National Federations who have got a mandate to represent their countries will participate in the 28th IPCA Congress in Ashdod, Israel on 12h May 2022, 20:30.

COVID 19 restrictions:

The updated COVID-19 regulations that will apply in Israel during the tournament will be fully implemented. The information will be updated on the official site of the tournament – http://ipca.chess.org.il
